7 STEPS FOR GETTING OIL AND GAS JOBS IN NIGERIA

       So many people want to delve into oil and gas because it is one of the highest paid employment anyone can get   In Nigeria. It is so obvious because there is a stiff competition in this sector.

     But there is a major challenge for fresh graduates ,because of the work experience that is required by oil companies. This makes it difficult for them to get a job, because they don't have an idea as to how to get the job. 

    Then come to think of it,you can still get your desired job in the oil and gas sector without much experience that is if you follow these steps that have been suggested by recruiters and managers in this firm.

  1) GET FAMILIAR WITH OPPORTUNITIES IN THE OIL AND GAS SECTOR: 

    Try to find out and get familiar with current oil job offers in the country that suits you.you can go through the internets,newspapers,posters etc.once you find a job that you like,you can then do research on the required skills and roles.it will help you to discover what you to have as well as let you know if you need more training. 

  2) VISIT THE WEBSITE OF OIL AND GAS COMPANIES: 

        Also do some study on the individual company and recruiters as well,because some companies might post vacancies without publicising in other media.it will help you to have a target for what you want.

  3) STRATEGISE:

        You have to compile a list of your target companies and plan how you approach each of them.if they are hiring,try and make an application letter as well as  CV. These should show that you know the job very well and are also fit to do the job.

     If there are no opening to apply for ,try and contact the HR dept either by mail or phone calls to know if there is any available spot.if they don't have at the moment,try to always contact them at intervals so that they can inform you when there is space.

         Try to show interest in these industries by attending events organized by them, and get acquainted to the staff professionals. If you show them dedication, they can recommend you to an employer. Always try to go prepared with your CV.

5)BUILD YOUR LINKEDIN PROFILE: 

             Try to build your linkedin profile because it is a professional network which is strictly for career development. Once it is set up, build your profile to reflect your interest in the industry, skills etc, as well as experiences you have had. Then you carry out a search to look for people in the field of your interest and then send requests to add them up.

6) PREPARE FOR AN INTERVIEW: 

            Once you have secured an interview, do not be scared. Just get to know the recurrent in all interviews.  Check glassdoor.com for many oil and gas company questions. Get yourself familiar with them and try to prepare yourself for the interview.

7) KEEP IN TOUCH:

               Once you have done your best in the interview, the next thing to do is to always keep in touch with the HR department either through calls or emails or even visiting them. This will help you get favored, especially if your performance was good.
