NEW RAILWAY CONSTRUCTION DEAL ENTERS NIGERIA FROM CHINA

Nigerians have been glad about the new railway construction which is powered by the Chinese government after they have signed a deal worth 12 billion US dollars.
         In an interview with Xinhua in Lagos, the chairman of Momas Electricity Meters Manufacturing Limited(MEMMCOL) Kola Balogun said he was proud of China's track record in it's support to Africa. He said that the project will help to ease movement of citizens and goods round the country. He also suggested that the Chinese government should encourage Chinese companies to make professional impact and transfer technology to local workers.
          Olawuyi Kolawole, the managing director of Gasolak expressed his satisfaction on the matter. He described the project as a significant milestone in Nigeria's history. He also called for the Chinese investors to transfer technological skills to Nigeria as it would enable the country to maintain infrastructure in the country.
          The chairman,Board of Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) Bamanga Tukur also assured the citizens of the country that transforming railway system was President Goodluck Jonathan's topmost priority saying that the Nigerian leader has intensified efforts towards transforming the railway system to give it a new face. He said this new railway system would facilitate job creation, boost business activities and strengthen bond of Nigerian relationship.
           This plan is a 1,400 kilometer railway which would run from the main city of Lagos to the port of Calabar. It is built by the state firm China railway construction company. 
           This deal will create up to 200,000 local jobs as well as 30,000 fixed jobs for Nigeria when the railway is operational.
