TOWARDS A BETTER CONSTRUCTION SECTOR
Cement Technology Institute of Nigeria(CTIN) yesterday said that it is ready to use the N15 billion levy for cement importation for development in the industry and other related fields.
Alhaji Aliko Dangote the chairman, The Board of Trustees of CITN disclosed this when the institute signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Industrial Training Fund (ITF) in Lagos to commence training from the first phase which is starting with 3,000 craftsmen in the construction industry. He also said that the 15% import levy which the Federal government mandated cement importers to pay has increased to N15 billion.
He further added that the agreement between CITN and ITF is to achieve the following goals:

He further added that the agreement between CITN and ITF is to achieve the following goals:
- to conduct training programmes for artisans and craftsmen in the building industry
- to promote professionalism,proficiency and actualization of the training to work initiative and entrepreneurship so as to discourage the importation of foreign artisans and craftsmen from other countries
- to complement the success of agenda of the present administration in the area of youth empowerment and employment generation.
- to determine specific needs and opportunities for building capacity and improving artisans and craftsmen that use cement to execute their work.
